To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Retford Town Hall we were commissioned by the Mayor of Retford to make a very special cake - an exact cake replica of the beautiful Victorian building.

Our unique design celebrates the heritage of Retford, and was the centre peice at a celebration event at the Town Hall itself.

The cake didn't just look amazing - it tasted it too. We baked a Mexican vanilla sponge, filled with premium strawberry jam and buttercream. Once carved into the iconic Town Hall shape, we covered it in Belgian white chocolate ganache, and finished with the finest sugar paste.

The event, which celebrated the heritage of Retford, saw 150 school children - one for every year of the building's history - create a time line between 1868-2018 through a performance that represented significant events.

There was even time for the children to quiz our very own Maria on how she made the cake. So who knows, maybe this edible town hall will inspire the star bakers of the future!
