This crazy wedding cake brings together the Bride and Groom's love of comic strip characters and lyrics from one of their favourite songs. With four tiers and a working backlight, it was quite the feature at the wedding!

The base of the cake features a red and black design adorned with the Joker's famous "HA! HA! HA!"

The bottom tier is plastered is hand picked covers of the couple's favourite comics, with their favourite "Mad Love" Batman cover central. The middle tier continues the theme, with the addition of the lyrics from "Mona Lisa" by All American Rejects - the couple's favourite song. 

Above this is a tier based on a skyline of Gotham City. We individually cut out the building shapes and airbrushed a sunset onto the fondant. On top sit two fabulous figures - the Joker and Harley Quinn, made by hand and entirely edible. 

Behind them is a skyscraper from Gotham City with the iconic Bat-Signal on top. In the stories, the signal is used by the Gotham City Police Department as a method of contacting and summoning Batman to their assistance in the event of a serious crisis.

We had our Bat-Signal handmade for this occasion and it actually worked - the rays that come out actually illuminate. It proved a striking addition to the wedding, and the Bat-Signal was a nice keepsake for the Bride and Groom.
